YESENIA DURAN (b. 1999) is an Austin-based artist whose practice focuses on members of the animal kingdom. Pulling inspiration from nature guides, Yesenia creates encyclopedic collections of drawings chronicling a wide variety of species. She uses both drawing and text to create detailed and informative work. When she's not in the studio, Yesenia enjoys spending time outside and has recently begun raising and releasing Monarch butterflies.
We found her work when we curated a collaboration exhibit with Sage Studios in Austin. We really enjoy so many of the artists whom they work with, but we are huge Yesenia fans.
In working with Sage Studios and Yesenia on our upcoming exhibit, I sent a few questions to Yesenia.
