wood construction with paper nd 11x4x10”

William Hunter Dillard was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana in 1905. During childhood his family moved from place to place and he eventually finished school living with an Aunt in New Orleans.
Following a stint working in logging and lumber industries, he joined the US Coast Guard in 1930 and married in 1933. The marriage only lasted a few years then he returned to Louisiana and moved on to Houston where he opened a consulting business, Directors of Houston Business Research Service.
In 1940 he enrolled in drafting and engineering courses at the University of Houston.
Finally around 1962 he began drawing using his not so good past experiences with the ladies and technical training to document his views on various subjects. He revealed his plans for the betterment of society.
In 1969 he began to host exhibits on his front porch and made flyers about the exhibits, which he posted around Houston.
In 1982, Mark Lombardi, a Houston artist and curator saw a flyer and tracked Dillard down. Dillard was now elderly, retired, but full of tales and talk about his drawings and sculptures.
One day in the 1980’s Lombardi showed up to visit Dillard to find an empty house. He never heard about what happened or where the artwork went, although there are tales of a son who disposed the home of everything.
Thru the artwork collected, William Hunter Dillard’s unique views and visions live on.
