1995 George Paul Kornegay in his yard

We recall that we had heard about Rev. Kornegay and saw a few photos of his art yard.
Little time passed until we traveled to his Alabama home and spent the first of numerous afternoons with Rev. Kornegay enjoying his work and hearing his teachings and wisdoms.
He was making artwork for his children and the neighborhood children to teach them biblical teachings and African American history lessons through sculptures, installations, and paintings using bold imagery, found objects, textures, and colors.
Rev Kornegay was constantly working, adding, and maintaining pieces within his yard. He introduced us to his family where we received approval to purchase artwork. We brought him art supplies, introduced him and his work to others and helped him think about creating paintings to further extend his messages. The sculptures we purchased were either pieces he created for us or pieces being rotated out of his yard show.
The entire place was an open book to be shared.
