James Harold Jennings was so fun to visit! He lived near King, North Carolina, just South of Mount Pilot, as in Mayberry.
James had some land with a couple school buses, one for his home and another for storage. He had worked as a movie projectionist at a drive in movie theater in the 1970s, but retired in the 1980’s to obsessively make art in his outdoor studio.
We would always shoot to visit him around 11 or noon, when he liked to start his first beer. He understood craft beer before it was a thing. He liked beer. and I am talking about a sophisticated love for beer.
James lived alone and said he was an artist of the sun, moon, and stars. He liked his herd of cats and they adored him. His art was filled with humor, much, color, great construction, dots a plenty, and his kind spirit.
